Kuwait unveils four-tier visa system to boost tourism
The newly announced visas offer validity periods ranging from 30 days to a full year

The Kuwaiti Government Information Center has unveiled a new, streamlined tourist visa system with four distinct categories designed to accommodate travelers of varying nationalities and purposes, a significant shift in the country’s approach to tourism and short-term visits.
The newly announced visas offer validity periods ranging from 30 days to a full year, with options for both single and multiple entries.
- First Category: Citizens of countries with “powerful passports” and strong economic indicators will have access to a full range of visa types, including short- and long-term stays.
- Second Category: Gulf citizens, expatriates with professional qualifications, and holders of valid US, UK, Schengen visas, or GCC residence permits will also enjoy expanded access.
- Third Category: Set to launch soon, this tier will cater to other nationalities, requiring proof of financial solvency and additional guarantees.
- Fourth Category: Event-specific visas will be issued for visitors attending conferences, festivals, or other activities, with conditions tailored to each occasion.
According to the released guidelines, single-entry visas permit stays of 30, 60, or 90 days, while multiple-entry visas, valid for 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year, allow for 30-day stays per entry.
The move aims to balance accessibility with regulation, ensuring Kuwait remains open to tourism while maintaining oversight of visitor flows.
