Kuwait unveils four-tier visa system to boost tourism
The newly announced visas offer validity periods ranging from 30 days to a full year

The Kuwaiti Government Information Center has unveiled a new, streamlined tourist visa system. It features four distinct categories designed to accommodate travelers of varying nationalities and purposes. This change shows a significant shift in the country’s approach to tourism and short-term visits.
The newly announced visas offer validity periods ranging from 30 days to a full year. There are options for both single and multiple entries.
- First Category: Citizens of countries with “powerful passports” will have access to a full range of visa types. These countries have strong economic indicators. This includes short- and long-term stays.
- Second Category: Gulf citizens, expatriates with professional qualifications, and holders of valid visas will also enjoy expanded access. These visas include US, UK, Schengen, or GCC residence permits.
- Third Category: This tier is set to launch soon. It will cater to other nationalities. It requires proof of financial solvency and extra guarantees.
- Fourth Category: Event-specific visas will be issued for visitors attending conferences. They will also cover festivals or other activities. Conditions will be tailored to each occasion.
According to the released guidelines, single-entry visas allow stays of 30, 60, or 90 days. Multiple-entry visas are valid for 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year. They allow for 30-day stays per entry.
The move aims to balance accessibility with regulation, ensuring Kuwait remains open to tourism while maintaining oversight of visitor flows.
